Kaparel Corporation, a Rittal company is showcasing their line of products at SuperComm 2004 held in Chicago from June 22 to June 24. Among its line of electronic packaging solutions is their AdvancedTCA ® Shelf intended for next generation telecom.
As an executive member of PICMG, Kaparel/Rittal was involved in the development of the definition of the mechanical specifications, cooling in the Shelf and the routing analysis and simulation of the Full Mesh Backplane for the AdvancedTCA®.
Kaparel’s AdvancedTCA Shelf will be o n display in the Rittal booth (#11323) and at the AdvancedTCA Showcase booth (#13540) put on by PICMG. Another location where Kaparel solutions are going to be on display is at the Xilinx booth (#27725). Xilinx the worldwide leader of programmable logic solutions is going to be demonstrating the signal integrity of Kaparel’s 16-Slot Full Mesh Backplane.
The Kaparel AdvancedTCA Shelf complies with the current PICMG 3.0 specifications approved January 2004 and has unique features including stainless steel exterior, a one-piece card guide platform (patent pending) that provides EMI shielding and four 1U RiCool II Blowers designed to cool 200 Watts per slot. The 19” rack-mounted unit includes the 11401 Kaparel Full Mesh Backplane and distribution board. The system is available in two versions – one to accommodate the Intel “Colorado Springs” shelf management card and one to support the Force and Pigeon Point shelf management card.
Kaparel’s Director of Sales Mike Peters, a member of the PICMG 3.0 subcommittee stated, “The market has been waiting for a system that offers increased computing density, a new form factor and switched fabric architecture. Major OEMs are excited, incorporating the system into their infrastructure. We are getting positive responses from our customers about our ATCA and its expectations into the market place.” |
