| Rittal Consolidates Ripac and Kaparel into Single Business Unit |
|
| July 23, 2003– Waterloo, Canada |
|
Rittal announces the formation of a single business unit by combining the Kaparel backplane operation in Waterloo, Canada and the Ripac subrack mechanical/assembly operations in Springfield, Ohio. This consolidation will best address the many significant technology advancements in the markets mutually served by Kaparel and Ripac.
Tom Sutherland, currently General Manager of Kaparel Corporation, will head the combined business unit from the Waterloo facility. There are no imminent plans to relocate either of the businesses into a single facility. A consolidated plan is being developed to move the two units closer together in their ability to support customers’ needs, as well as leverage the strengths of the two complementary businesses. Rittal purchased Kaparel Corporation in December of 2000.
Terry Ray, President of Rittal Corporation, stated, "The original intent of the purchase of Kaparel Corporation was to capitalize on the experience and growth they had developed in high speed backplane design and production and to partner the synergies of the Rittal Ripac division." Mr. Ray added, "This consolidation of the business units is the final phase of the purchase and will provide the telecom and IT markets with a complete packaging solution."
Many of the plans for consolidating the businesses into a single sector have yet to be completed, but will be rolled out to the market over the next couple of months. The business unit will operate under the Kaparel/Ripac banner and will report into Rittal Corporation facility in Springfield, OH. As the planning is firmed up, further announcements will be forthcoming on the operating logistics of the new business unit. |
