| Kaparel Corporation to offer a PICMG 2.16 CompactPCI Development Platform |

Kaparel Corporation today announced a new family of development platforms based on the PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group (PICMG ) 2.16 specification ratified by the PICMG Executive Committee last week in Boston. The PS4900 Development Systems (Kaparel part number PS 6090-004) are being offered to companies interested in developing systems around the 2.16 specification, as it offers an economical solution for providing the fastest traffic speeds with the greatest reliability.
The new PS4900 Series will be equipped with the Performance Technologies (Nasdaq: PTIX) IPnexus CPC4400 series of PICMG 2.16-compatible Ethernet switches. It also comes configured with power supplies and is enclosed in a Rittal 9U chassis.
The CompactPCI Packet Switching Backplane architecture was developed by Performance Technologies and standardized by the PICMG 2.16 subcommittee. This revolutionary architecture preserves the mechanical, power and hotswap attributes of CompactPCI, while dramatically improving data throughput, scalability and reliability. This allows OEMs to build systems that are now more reliable, less expensive and faster to market, without waiting for the future of switched fabrics.
Kaparel has been a member of the PICMG 2.16 subcommittee since its inception and is pleased to work with Performance Technologies to provide our PS4900 CompactPCI/Packet Switching Backplane based Development System to the market," said Kaparel’s President and CEO, Ben Robitaille.
