| Kaparel announces 3U x 84HP, hot swap, CompactPCI power supply backplane |
|
| December 1, 1999 – Waterloo, Ontario |

Kaparel Corporation (formerly PixStream CompactPCI Division) today announced the launch of the PS1227 power supply backplane. At 84HP wide, the PS1227 is capable of handling up to seven 3U, hot swappable power supply modules. The PS1227 uses the new 47-pin connector specified in PICMG2.11, with power being distributed from the board via 18-gauge ATX-style wiring harness assemblies. The PS1227 is also perforated to allow horizontal front-to-back airflow, as well as the standard vertical convection, making it one of the coolest running powerplanes in CompactPCI today and ideal for top-rack placement.
Kaparel President and CEO, Ben Robitaille, noted that "the large number of modules supported by the PS1227enables upwards of 1050W to be managed all within a small 3U enclosure."
In addition to the PS1227, Kaparel is currently in production of the PS1222 (3U 2x1), the PS1247 (6U 2x1) and the PS1257 (6U 1x2) power supply backplanes. All of these boards enable the user to update from the Type M input connectors, to the new 38- and 47-position standard connectors specified in PICMG 2.11. All of these boards also use the simple and low-cost ATX connectors for power output, something Kaparel was the first in the industry to implement.
Pricing for the new P38/47 power backplanes are as follows:
